Indian festivals and weddings are all a very colourful and blingy. When I shopped for festive wear years back my mom always advised me to stay away from whites and blacks which werent considered very festive and also a bit inauspicious for weddings.
These days the colour white has been in vogue especially with Indian traditional wear and I have spotted many women wear white at weddings. On one wedding I actually spotted a bride do white ! Celebrities have walked ramps, graced red carpets, attended weddings and also wore the elegant colour for festivals proving to us that White is the color of this season.
Festive season is on and everybody is flocking around dressed in their ethnic best for Diwali. I love ethnic wear and kept a close eye on Indian celebrities to see what they were wearing for diwali bashes and was surprised to find majority of celebrities went with white Indian wear, this is a raging trend which you can definitely copy for the upcoming wedding season.
Straight cut chudidaar suits always look classy and are comfortable too. Love Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's white suit with mirror work. it looked simple and sophisticated too while the makeup added for a pop of colour
Sarees have always been a best pick for festive season and a simple one paired with a designer blouse can also look very elegant. Avantika in this white saree with fringe detailing looks serene but an emerald statement piece could make this look more festive. The red lip and blouse however was good addition.

Celebrities who went white with traditional wear this Diwali
#1 Aishwarya Rai in Abu Jaini Sandeep Khosla
Straight cut chudidaar suits always look classy and are comfortable too. Love Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's white suit with mirror work. it looked simple and sophisticated too while the makeup added for a pop of colour
#2 Sunny Leone in Dinesh Malkani
Sunny Leone also went white for Aamir khans diwali bash but it had a lot of colour too. The white lehenga had splashes of pink and the crop top style choli had bling while dupatta was net. If you dont want to wear all white for festival then try comething like this outfit.#3 Malaika Arora khan in Tarun Tahliani
Wearing an ornate Tarun Tahliani anarkali was Malaika looking regal . a potli and a rid lip with middle parted hair finished out her look. It is nice to see Malaika do head to toe clothes for a change.
#4 Natasha Poonawala in Sabyasachi
Not doing completely white Natasha chose a Sabyasachi lehenga which had a white dupatta. Diwali is all about grandeur and Natasha's outfit was all that and more with a heavy neck piece, mang tika and red lip colour. I do wish the bronzer was a bit more toned down though.
#5 Parineeti Chopra
Parineeti dint exactly wear white but it was actually a cream lehenga choli with a floor length cape style jacket. The outfit had a whole lot of bling so it was good move to not add any accesories but a brighter lip colour would add a lot to this look.
#6 Gauhar Khan
A white anarkali with striking pink dupatta was outfit of choice for Gauhar Khan. I love the simple styling here and the festive touch the dupatta adds.
#7 Vidya Balan in Gaurang
Vidya loves her sarees and chose a white chikankari one by Gaurang for diwali. This white saree was a safe chioce and Vidya balan added colour to the look by pairing it with green blouse and bangles. Silver neck jewelery and a bindi finished out Vidya Balan's look. This look kind of aged Vidya a bit and the tight bun is to be blamed. A wispy do or a braid would make this look more fun.
#8 Richa Chadda in Payal Singhal
If heavy work of zari or silks are not your style then try playing with prints. A black and white lehenga with white choli and dupatta was outfit of choice for Richa. The dupatta drape did not work here and a tika or bangles could have elevated this look more.
#9 Avantika in Manish Malhotra
Sarees have always been a best pick for festive season and a simple one paired with a designer blouse can also look very elegant. Avantika in this white saree with fringe detailing looks serene but an emerald statement piece could make this look more festive. The red lip and blouse however was good addition.
#10 Karisma kapoor in House of Kotwara
Anarkalis have been in trend for years now and they arent going out anytime soon. Love this floor length anarkali on Karishma Kapoor and it stands out for its neck design. The potli and earrings gel in well making for a regal and classy look
#11 Sonam Kapoor in Anamika Khanna
Sonam Kapoor also chose white for diwali. An Anamika Khanna lehenga with dupatta draped like a cape and a stunning necklace to finish off the festive look. Love those kangans.
#13 Yami Gautami in Rimple Harpreet and Nurula
Anarkali is definitely the most sough after ethnic wear these days and with the stunning combination of gold and white. Love the simple angrakha anarkali look of Yami.
#14 Sridevi in Manish Malhotra
Wearing a white Manish Malhotra lehenga was Sridevi attending Ekta kapoors diwali bash. I love the longer collared blouse aka choli here as it looks so graceful and the fishtail braid is perfect to enjoy a night of fun and partying .
#15 Sonakshi Sinha in Arpita Mehta
Wearing floral print and halter neck choli Sonakshi made sure she stood out in the crowd. I do wish the hair was styled differently though.
So? Are you set to embrace the white ethnic wear trend? Which celebrity style would you like to take inspiration from?
