The one thing I look for in lip colours is staying power because I have slightly pigmented lips and  I hate doing touch ups. I have so many lipsticks in my stash which I barely apply because they transfer like crazy and just cant survive meals. The other day I applied this beautiful plum shade from lakme enrich satin range and about 10 minutes later I found a bit of it magically transported on my chin, Ugggh!

Wedding season is on and I love wearing bold bright lip colours to Indian weddings. All these weddings I attend are so high on bling and have some gorgeous ethnic wear to drool on but what I love more is the food. I just love stuffing myself with yummy, oily  biryani, kebabs and sweets and I want my lip colour to not smudge or fade off while I indulge in the eating part. I have tried and tested a lot of lip colours, brands, ranges, shades and have found some lipsticks actually can survive a full blown meal. For brides and even wedding guests it is important that your lip colour lasts all day without even a bit of smudging or fading.  Here in this post today I list to you the best long lasting lipsticks in India which refuse to budge and will last on your lips until you take it off with a makeup remover.

#1 Maybelline Superstay 14hr Lipstick


The 14hr range from Maybelline is truly a must have if you like your lipsticks to last long and the best thing is maybelline gets the pricing right. There are some absolutely gorgeous vivid shades in this range and the pigmentation is also amazing. The texture is the only thing which I dont like in this lipstick but I can deal with it because true to its claims this lipstick almost lasts 14 hours on my lips even with full meals in between. The finish isnt completely matte, somewhat like creamy matte which gets drier after a few hours. I love 'stay with me coral' from this range and just cant stop wearing it. These superstay lipsticks have a pleasant fruity smell and arent very drying too. If you havent tried any matte long lasting lipstick yet, then start wth this range as it is pretty affordable at around 600 bucks. Available in 20 shades.

#2 Sugar Matte as hell Crayon lipsticks


It is no secret that I love lip crayons and currently Iam obsessed with Sugar matte as hell crayon lipsticks. These crayons are highly pigmented, lasts all day and is comfortable on lips. The finish is powdery matte and they dont transfer at all making them an absolute favourite with me. They are available in 5 vivid shades and if you love matte lip colors you should definitely give this range a try. I own rose Dawson and Holly go lightly from this range and love both of them equally. The only thing I dont like about these lip colours from Sugar is that I have to keep sharpening them and also the price is a bit on higher side. If you are looking for a matte long lasting lipstick with a comfortable formula then try Sugar, these are affordable versions of MAC retro matte lipsticks

Shade Recommendations: All 5 shades are gorgeous but if want to buy just one try Rose Dawson which will be sort of MLBB for Indian skin tones. If you are on a hunt for perfect matte nude lip colour Holly go Lightly should be perfect. If you are a bride to be try Scarlet O Hara which is a perfect red.

#3 NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams

NYX lip cream in Amsterdam was my first ever matte lip colour and this is the only lip colour I ended up finishing and repurchasing. If you are very particular about the texture of lip colours then this one will turn you into a fan. It is light weight on lips and gives a comfortable matte finish. The pigmentation is also good but the staying power is pretty average. This lip colour range can survive light snacks but needs to be retouched after a meal, but if you want something comfortable on your lips guess you should compromise a bit.
I had purchased this lip cream from Amazon.com by paying international shipping but now since NYX is in India availability isnt an issue, You can buy these from sephora, nykaa and even Amazon India.

#4 Faces Ultime Pro Long Wear Matte Lipsticks

Available in 20 captivating shades Faces pro long wear matte lipsticks are richly pigmented and glides smoothly on lips. These lip colours are creamy on application and settle to give matte finish after a minute or two. These lipsticks like their name suggest last really long and leave a stain behind which will go away only an oil based makeup remover making it waterproof, smudge proof and meal proof too! Their velvet matte lipsticks are my favourite affordable matte range but if you looking for matte  long lasting lipsticks which can survive a meal for real, Extra Durable Lip Color range is where you should invest. These extra durable lip colours from colorbar come in a unique packaging with clear gloss on one end and actual lip colour at the other end. The texture of these lip colours is light weight, creamy and a single swipe is all you need for opaque color even on pigmented lips. Once the colour settles in you get matte finish and you top it with the clear gloss for a more hydrate glossy shined look. The gloss doesnt effect the lasting power of this colour which refuses to budge easily even with an oil based cleanser. If you are okay with lipsticks which are super hard to remove only then give this range a try.

Available in 20 shades, revlon colorstay ultimate suede lipsticks have a smooth texture which glides on easily and gives a nice semi matte finish. The staying power is also impressive as it is a long lasting lipstick and survives all day even with meals in between. But you need to work on well exfoliated lips when using these lipsticks as they tend to settle into fine lines or look uneven on flaky lips. The absolute sculpt matte lipstick range from lakme has impressive color pay off and a comfortable matte finish so you can try these even if you have dry lips. On the flip side they dont last as long as other lip colours mentioned above but they stay for about 6 hours on lips and can easily survive light meals. If texture is all you care about then this range is a definite try as it has a soft texture which doesnt weigh down your lips and is also a decently long lasting lipstick.

If you like liquid lipsticks then give the Chambor extreme wear transferproof lip colour range a try. These have a smooth feather light formula and creamy texture which settles to a matte finish. The staying power is amazing as they easily last for about 10 hours making it a perfect long lasting lipstick and removal is actually a bit of a pain as will need a rigid oil based cleanser. Since this is a liquid lipstick you need to prepare your lips by scrubbing and follow with some lip balm balm before applying this lip colour.

Iam so obsessed with with colorpop but they need to be shipped from USA and Iam worried about the import duty. Anyway if you can get your hands on these do try the shade bumble which is amazing everyday brown.

Revlon just bitten balm stains have a gorgeous balmy glossy finish and last long too but I havent included them here because they are not available anywhere. I guess revlon has discontinued that range. Some of these balm stains are still available on amazon.com and I just ordered a couple of them. If you can get your hands on these do give them a try as they are gorgeous lip stains which last all day and feel pretty comfortable on lips too.

Tips for perfect application of long lasting lipsticks:

Most long lasting lipsticks have a matte formula which can severly dry out your lips making them very uncomfortable to wear. Even if you choose a long lasting lipstick with a satin, velt or glossy finish you need to prepare your lips prior to application as these lip colours tend to settle in fine lines making them look patchy. Here are some tips which can help you get the perfect application and pout.

  • Prepare your lips the night before you plan to wear a long lasting lipstick. Properly exfoliate your lips with a lip scrub and get rid of all the dry flaky parts on your lips. Now you have a soft smooth canvas for lip colour application. Use DIY home made sugar scrub to exfoliate your lips.
  • Properly hydrate your lips before applying a lip colour. Apply your favourite lip balm 15 minutes prior to applying a long lasting lipstick and then complete rest of your makeup. Now wipe off the balm and then apply your lip colour.
  • Use a lip liner to define your lips for perfect pout. This step is very important if the long lasting lipstick you are using is a liquid lip color
  • After lining your lips you can apply your lip colour straight from the tube or using a lip brush. I suggest you use a lip brush for a more even and precise application. Using a lip brush also gives a painted lips effect.
  • Now you can use a tissue to blot lips and remove excess colour . Do this step only if you feel blotting is required because if you use a lip brush blotting will not be required. Most long lasting lipsticks anyway settle in after a minute or two without any blotting required.
