3 Ingredient DIY Sugar Scrub for lips Recipe | How to Exfoliate lips

Harsh winters are here and my already dry lips are now chapped and flaky demanding extra care and attention from me. I am loving matte lipsticks more these days  but applying matte lip colours on chapped lips is like inviting serious trouble so it is absolutely essential to exfoliate lips.

For soft kissable baby smooth lips it is important to exfoliate your lips atleast once a week with a nourishing lipscrub to get rid of dead skin cells and reveal soft new skin. There are many lip scrubs out there which can be brought from stores but you can also  make your own sugar scrub for lips with ingredients already available in your home and save money.

I found out about this DIY sugar scrub for lips from a friend and have never used a store brought lipscrub ever because this home made lip scrub does the job of exfoliating lips nicely. Infact it not only exfoliates but also nourishes my lips and free of chemicals too.  If you suffer from chapped lips which peel here and tug there then do give this Lip scrub a try and prettify your pout!

3 Ingredient natural DIY Sugar Scrub for lips Recipe

What You need to make the Natural Lip Scrub

- 1 spoon honey : Honey is good for skin and has healing properties
- 1 spoon almond oil : Use any sweet almond oil you own , Iam using Roghan Badam Shirin. If you dont have almond oil you can also use olive oil or coconut oil but make sure the oil is pure .
-1 spoon sugar : Sugar is a very good natural exfoliant. I am using normal sugar but it is better if you use brown sugar .

Mix honey, almond oil and sugar together to make a sticky paste and TADA! Sugar scrub for lips is ready to use. Super simple and quick right?

How to Exfoliate lips using DIY sugar lip scrub

  • Apply this DIY lip scrub on your lips
  • Gently rub it into to your lips in circular motion to loosen dead skin cells
  • If you have time let the scrub sit on your lips for 2 minutes and allow almond oil to nourish and often your lips
  • Wipe off with a damp cloth
  • After using sugar scrub apply a good moisturizing lip balm. I use lip balms from Maybelline Baby lips range or Nivea lip butters in winter

Storing the DIY lip scrub

You should not scrub your lips more than twice a week so it is better to make small quantity of it. Use an empty lip balm container to store the excess lipscrub . Make sure you keep this container in refrigerator and use it within 15 days of making because this all natural and preservative free.

Exfoliating lips: More Tips

  • Be very gentle when scrubbing your lips or you will end up with bleeding lips
  • Over scrubbing can cause more harm than good for your lips. You can exfoliate 1-2 times a week . Anything more than that is not advisable
  • Exfoliate with a toothbrush: If you are in a hurry then use a wet soft bristled toothbrush to get rid of dead skin cells . You can even top your lips with petroleum jelly and then use a baby toothbrush to exfoliate lips
  •  Drinking plenty of water. Drinking water really can solve so many things, can’t it? It’s no surprise that it will help your lips stay hydrated, too.
