While DeepVeer chose Italy to keep their wedding intimate and pravate affair away from the paparazzi their Mumbai reception specially thrown for their friends in Bollywood was a heavily photographed glam affair with many bollywood celebrities gracing the event in their festive best. The DeepVeer wedding reception had beautiful saris and designer dresses and lehngas and I am literally ogling over the sheer magnificence. So lets get to seeing what the celebrities showed up in. Your dose of wedding Fashion Inspo right here to help you decide what to wear to an indian wedding reception as a guest.

#1 Ranveer Sing and Deepika padukone go glam in Black and red for Mumbai Reception

Not exactly wedding guests but how an we not start with the trending couple? After what seemed like a huge flurry of traditional outfits from Sabyasachi and Abu jaini sandeep khosla DeepVeer went for a more westernized look at their Mumbai reception. Deepika Padukone chose a deep red Zuhair Murad gown which featured a high slit and train. I loved that she chose to keep her hair voluminous instead of the flat hair she chose at her most other wedding ceremonies. Ranveer complemented his bride amazingly in a black velvet tux.

#2  Dia Mirza in green lehenga with Sheer dupatta

My favourite celebrity wedding guest dress from #DeepVeerReception has to be this gorgeous green lehenga worn by Dia mirza. #4 Farah Khan in Traditional Indian wedding guest dresses - Sharara suit

Pakistani style sharara suits are totally in these days and Farah Khan showed up in an embroidered suit with a sheer dupatta. I love the styling here and her fresh makeup takes the look notches high. If you are slightly on the heavier side then this is the kind of indian wedding outfit you should pick.

#5 Aishwarya Rai in gorgeous white lehenga

Wearing a white ornate lehenga Aishwarya Rai cut an elegant picture. If you thought whites were not for Indian weddings, then think again because Mrs Bachchan sure shows you how to do white right for a desi wedding reception.

#6 Aditi Rao Hydarai in Anushree Reddy -  Striking red-pink wedding guest outfit

Aditi's outfit felt rather underwhelming considering she is always on top of her fashion game. Her Anushree Reddy anarkali with lehenga in festive colours was quiet a nice pick but the overall styling was lacklusture. This look needed a bit of bling or shine via  necklace  and earrings. You can try an outfit like this as an Indian wedding guest dress if you want to a fuss free dupatta less look.

#7 Kalki in pant suit - Indian wedding guest outfit for an offbeat look

Would you dare to wear a pant suit at an Indian wedding reception? well Kalki koechlin actually wore one and owned her look totally. I personally wouldnt wear a look like this as my style is all festive colours and subtle bling but if you have a more contemporary personal taste then you could try this look.

#8 Vidya Balan in a Black lehenga with white dupatta

Vidya balan sure surprised all by wearing the lehenga and not the usual saree she prefers offscreen. The smokey eyes, nude lips, ornate potli and side parted hair give a  elegant vibe.

#10 Rekha in a purple-gold Kanjeevaram saree

Silk sarees will remain a timeless classic when it comes to weddings and Rekha shows you how to make a statement with traditional  kanjeevarams. Choose a distinct hue like purple and gold and pair it with a stylish blouse. With so much regal appeal I feel it is best to skip the neck jewellery and opt for jhumkas and a potli. This indian wedding guest outfit look  is embraced by mature women but you can try it even if you are young. Just swap the blouse for a more trendy cold shouldered one tie up the hair in a braid with mogra strings. If you really want to do the classic indian wedding silk saree look, I suggest you opt for a kasavu saree as it has its own charm

#21  Sonakshi Sinha in a yellow gown-  Cheery Indian wedding guest outfit idea

Tired of those voluminous anarkalis, lehengas and gowns as indian wedding guest dresses? If flared outfits is not your thing then take cue from Sonakshi Sinha and opt for a sleek gown which allows you to roam around heck free. If the wedding you are going to attend is not someone close like a best freind or sibling then it is better to keep things simple yet festive. Jhanvi Kapoor wore a plain yellow saree with an ornate blouse and mang tikka and earrings were her choice of accessories. This outfit had so much potential but is let down by the saree drape which works better for an item number not a wedding reception. You can try a similar look with a different saree drape but make sure to keep the colour of saree festive and the blouse embellished for it work for a wedding related event. For a plain saree look which stands out in a crowd choose from one of the many contemporary saree drape styles and you are sure make heads turn.

#24 Anushka Sharma in feather  detailed gown

Feather details is a trend I have been spotting continuously in ethnic wear this year. Feather detailed saree blouses and gowns look stunning and lend outfits a very contemporary western appeal. If you want to strike a trend at weddings this year then opt for a feather detailed outfit like anushka Sharma and go minimal with styling.

This kind of distinct gown can also make for alluring sangeet outfits.

#26 Patraleka in glittery lehenga

Patralekhaa sizzled in a Tarun tahiliani lehenga paired with chandbali style earrings at the Deepveer Reception. Lehengas are what most women wear as wedding guest dresses in India but it is important to choose your lehenga style carefully to distinguish from rest at any event.  This lehenga has cape sleeve style dupatta detailing and the overall subtle bling really make it a showstopper of an outfit for sister of bride or groom.

Raveena Tandon wore this dual toned saree for a graceful appearance which was finished of with neck piece , mang tika and earrings. I would swap the necklace for something like a choker or a rani haar for added impact.

#30  Natasha dalal  in a lilac gown

Most women prefer to go traditional for the actual wedding and then choose something more contemporary like gowns for wedding reception. Natasha dalal also chose to go the gown route with this lilac beauty feature a slit and cutout. While the Shilpa Sheety gown slit was inappropriate this high slit is quiet acceptable and makes for a great indian wedding guest dress for young fresh look.
